Your customer (air carrier) must request the SMAL from Boeing stating that their vendor has capability to manufacture the part and failure to supply the part will ground a specific tail number. When approved, Boeing will sometimes request how the part will be manufactured and processed. In my case, most of our processing is NADCAP approved which is in-line with Boeing's manufacturing requirements for their suppliers.In most of my cases, the SMAL's were approved for axle nuts, axle sleeves and non-major structural components.Regards,erau82 Status Not open for further replies.
