You are required to create a Daybreak account, and free membership does come with certain limitations. EverQuest 2[] The all-in-one retail box The game content you can access without buying expansions, depends on the most current expansion. Typically, those who haven't purchased the current expansion are limited to the content added in the (most of) the previous expansions. Those who buy the current expansion and remain on a Free-to-Play account can access the related zones and gain levels, just like those with an All Access membership.If you want to stay up-to-date and play the game to its fullest, purchasing the current expansion is ideal for any type of membership. If you have an active All Access membership, you will receive a 10% discount.All EverQuest 2 players have free access to content through the Altar of Malice expansion. This includes the base game, expansion packs, and adventure packs. Later expansions, such as Planes of Prophecy and Reign of Shadows are not available to Free-to-Play members. Purchasing the current expansion will automatically entitle you to all of the earlier content.You can purchase the current EverQuest 2 expansion as a digital download from Daybreak Games through their official website.EverQuest 2 All Access Membership requires a monthly subscription fee. #1 loaded Everquest this morning and it appeared the launcher did some kind of update and then once the launcher loaded where it usually checks for game updates it gave a popup error box saying Unable to download SocketError:Unreachable - No data (11004) - - No data (11004) and it says that about 5-6 times in the error box filling it up. and the eq play button that is suppose to be green says Retry. #2 also wanted to add the initial update it does displays in the launchpad shell window. and it does this every time I click my everquest .exe file to run the game. And it used to load the launcher right away.. now there's like a 10 second delay, then this launchpad shell update window and then the launcher loads giving that error box and the ability to retry with no success. #3 ****update***** Ok, figured I try something. Just before I attempted to run Everquest this morning I had installed an E-Rewards desktop application on my computer. I figured I would for the heck of it remove it and try to run Everquest again and see what happens. I removed it, Everquest launchpad loaded immediately (no launchpad shell update window), and the game loaded no problem. No clue as to why the e-rewards app conflicted with eq's launch. Fixed.

If you are installing the game on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, you may need to install additional operating system updates to ensure compatibility with the current version of the game. It is no longer required for you to install the DirectX 9.0c software.Although it is not officially supported on Linux, EverQuest 2 can be run in Linux if you have the appropriate audio and video drivers installed along with Wine 3.12 or later. It is recommended you use the latest version of Wine available for your Linux distro.
