Day when a short window of time is available, they sit down at a desktop computer to plug all the patient information into the system. Fratzke notes that this can have significant implications for the care of the patient such as a delay in the documentation of discrete patient data that can lengthen the time that it takes for nurses to receive early warning signs of patient deterioration or other notifications,Fratzke is a leader in nursing informatics and specializes in developing and configuring mobile app technology for nurses. Four years ago, Fratzke began developing and prototyping an internal mobile nursing app, a native iOS app called “Infuze,” which uses an icon system (color, shape, blinking, etc.) with specific meaning for each icon that can communicate clinical and operational information to the user. The icon system allows nurses to access specific operational and patient clinical data easily and quickly on smartphones, tablets and/or computer monitor screens, many of which can be easily used at the bedside. For the past year, Fratzke has been working to adapt a similar existing mobile app called “Epic Rover” with more advanced capabilities for nurses at Mayo Clinic. This app will be launched in conjunction with the staggered go-live schedule for Epic across all Mayo Clinic sites, beginning in mid-2017. Epic Rover will help nurses record real-time patient assessment documentation more quickly and efficiently. Mayo Clinic will provide nurses with smartphones for work in order to use the "Epic Rover" app. Already, Fratzke has received positive feedback

An artist's depiction of one of the twin Mars Exploration Rovers, nicknamed Spirit and Opportunity. Opportunity has been offline for weeks due to low power caused by a massive dust storm. Engineers have a rockin' playlist of wake-up songs for the rover.(Image credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech)Engineers with NASA's Mars Exploration Rover program have been left hanging on like a yo-yo for 61 days now, after the space agency's Opportunity rover lost power during a Martian dust storm — but they've started greeting each new Martian day the rover may call with a themed song.On Aug. 4 — Opportunity's 5,165th day on Mars — the rover was still asleep. But mission staff at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, hoped to inspire the robot to turn back on by playing Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" in the control room, beginning of a new tradition to wait out the storm."Morale has been a little shaky," Michael Staab, an engineer for the program at JPL who helped initiate the themed daily wake-up song for the humans waiting for Opportunity's long and nerve-wracking nap to end, told Space.com. "This is the first time she [Opportunity] has stopped talking to us and not resumed communication when we expected." [The Epic Mars Dust Storm of 2018 Explained]The musical initiative in the control room isn't entirely new: Mission team members celebrated a daily wake-up song when Opportunity first landed on Mars nearly 15 years ago, in January 2004, Staab said. The rover's mission was originally planned to last just 90 days, but once it became clear that Opportunity would be staying in business on the Red Planet, the tradition faded. Then, in May, came a dust storm to end all dust storms, which roiled around the entire planet and blotted out the sun — an awfully hazardous situation for a solar-powered robot. Opportunity hasn't produced so much as a chord, much less more substantive data, since June 10, according to NASA. (NASA's Curiosity Mars rover, by contrast, is nuclear-powered and thus has not suffered the same ill effects from the dust storm as the Opportunity rover.)"That'sTransforming Healthcare with Apple Technology: An Epic, Epic Rover
In healthcare, being responsive to patients often means having the right tools at your fingertips. One large US healthcare system set out to enhance patient care by equipping nursing staff with iPhones pre-loaded with Epic Rover—a powerful tool for patient data and record-keeping. To make this vision a reality, they needed a smooth, hands-off rollout of 1,700 iPhones across multiple locations; a massive project requiring just the right blend of expertise, efficiency, and coordination. The Need For ChangePicture a busy hospital floor where every second counts. Nurses rely on quick access to patient records and treatment data, but legacy computer systems slowed things down. Recognizing the need for a solution that would speed up processes, improve bedside care, and free up valuable staff resources, the healthcare network decided on a big move: implementing Epic Rover on iPhones to bring data directly to the nurses’ hands. The goal was clear, but the logistics of deploying so many devices were daunting. Without the staff bandwidth to manage such a large-scale project, they knew they’d need some help.A Clear Path to SuccessTo make this project work, our team jumped in with a comprehensive service package for large-scale tech rollouts. Here’s how we made it happen:Procurement and Asset Management: We sourced 1,700 iPhones with everything they’d need—protective cases, charging stations, extra battery packs, and accessories to fit the busy healthcare environment. Each item was cataloged and prepped, so the customer didn’t need to lift a finger!Kitting and Configuration: We handled the full kitting and configuration of each device, setting up custom settings and essential healthcare apps. Devices came complete with peripherals like Beam Mobile cases, Cortex Decoders, and Infinea X scanners, ready to roll straight out of the box.Zero-Touch Deployment and White Glove Service: From prep to deployment, our team managed the entire setup andWhat is Epic Rover? - Healthcare IT Leaders
