To maintain access to their previously saved data and games, any remaining Origin users will have to switch to the EA App, which is still supported. While the number of players this may apply to may be minimal, it could be frustrating to those still using the service who are unaware of the change. The reason for the shutdown is a result of Microsoft's lack of support for 32-bit software, according to a statement from EA. Microsoft now only supports software that's 64-bit and up, rendering Origin obsolete. They both serve as a way to get into your EA-published games in one place, but the EA App is simply more modern than Origin. The app only takes users so far, however, because browsing the catalog of games on the EA App redirects users to the EA website where games can be purchased, unlike platforms like Steam where players can buy, install and play games from the same place. While the EA App is replacing Origin for PC users, Mac users are still able to use Origin depending on what macOS version they're running. macOS Mojave and older will still be able to use Origin, as the 32-bit issue does not apply the same way to Mac users as it does for Windows machines. While macOS Mojave is currently unsupported on new Mac devices with the latest version being from 2021, users still using it or any earlier versions will still

SolvedI had an Origin Account with a few games in it, and I haven't used it in a long time, over a year or so. Today, I decide to play SimCity, a game I own on Origin. I open it and it gives me an error, and so I read up that I have to install the EA app. The EA app doesn't let me sign in with my Origin account, and I make a new account. I don't have access to any game I own on Origin anymore, and there is no way for me to email customer support. No help article help me because I apparently have a unique situation here. I cannot link my Origin account, and I can't fix Origin, because nothing helps me fix Origin either. Help please, these games costed money and now I can't even play them anymore.I experienced the same problem. I had to go to the EA website and do a password reset. I 'changed' the password to the same as my old one and everything worked again.
