Assume you require five copies of a document that is ten pages long. If you decide to collate (1,2,3….. 10) one after the other, your printer will print each full copy in the appropriate sequence. So you will get five complete sets of the document, each sorted page by page.Think of it like shuffling a deck of cards. Collating is like putting the cards back in their numerical order, ensuring that the Ace of Spades is followed by the Two of Spades. Without collating, your printer will print five copies of page 1 and then five copies of page two without order. This implies you have to manually arrange the pages. As you understand what collate means when printing, you can significantly optimize your workflow, particularly for larger projects. How Do You Collate? Now that you know what collate means when printing, how do you use this outstanding feature? The definition of “collate” in printing refers to a process of arranging pages in a specific and organized sequence. This is typically done with multiple-page documents. When you use the collate function, the printer will group and organize pages into complete sets, so they are ready for distribution. Whether you’re printing presentations, reports, or booklets, using the collate option in printers can save time, reduce frustration, and enhance the professional quality of your output.Let’s look at an example of collated pages vs. non-collated pages. If you’re printing two copies of a three-page document, the print output will look like this:With Collate: Page 1, Page 2, Page 3 (Set 1), then Page 1, Page 2, Page 3 (Set 2).Without Collate: Page 1, Page 1, Page 2, Page 2, Page 3, Page 3.Using the collate feature ensures that each copy of your document is ready for distribution or binding without having to rely on manual sorting.Example of How to Print Collated Pages from Your Computer: Open the document you want to print and select “Print.” In the print settings, print properties, or preferences window, look for the “Collate” option. Check the box or select the collate icon (this image may look like overlapping pages). Proceed to print your document. The collate feature is particularly useful in scenarios such as printing multiple copies of multi-page documents for meetings, classes, or events. Collated documents are also useful when creating booklets, training manuals, or handouts. In the grand scheme of printing, the collate feature might seem insignificant, but its impact is significant. By saving time and enhancing the professional quality of your documents, collate ensures a smoother and more efficient printing process.COLLATE - Definition and synonyms of collate in the - educalingo
A small office network can easily be monitored using this device, as all the listed IPs can easily be tracked. While this may seem to be a redundant function in a home environment, it works very well in a public or official domain. One can select and copy specific information about the devices connected like the IP Addresses, MAC addresses, etc, which can be useful to collate specific about the network performance. This is a great tracker in case the network is low on bandwidth and there are too many devices burdening the network, this slowing down the download speeds. make it really easy to know more about the devices connected, and which device is connected currently.Ī simple refresh using F5 or from the menu bar refreshes the view and detects if any new device has been disconnected or connected to the network. Details like IP Address, MAC details, type of device, etc. Once the program opens, the window is really just a blank window, where you can run a quick scan, and the list of devices using the network show up. One simply needs to download it, run the installer, and its good to go.The best thing about the program is that it is really easy to use. What are the best things about Wireless Network Watcher? This allows you to collate specific information about devices that are connected to the network. It is possible to save information specifically, for instance, the edit option in the menu bar allows you to copy the lists of IP addresses, MAC addresses, or only the selected items. In case of any intruders too, or unsolicited devices connected, one can monitor them, and take the necessary actions accordingly. In case of slower download speeds, one can easily monitor the number of connected devices, and see if some can be disconnected to give less load to the wireless network. The program also lets you see if the device is active at the current moment, so one is able to determine how many devices as online at the same time. Using this program, one can see the devices that are connected, save the information in an HTML format, and save the information as a reference. It is a simple minimalistic interface that runs a quick scan as you give the command, and lists the devices that are connected.. Collate - Collation tool for Google Docs, free and safe download. Variables that determine the default connection character set and collation (see Section 12.4, “Connection Character Sets and Collations”). A COLLATE clause is not permitted within a CONVERT() or CAST() call, but you can apply it to the function result. For example, these are legal: SELECT CONVERT('test' USING utf8mb4) COLLATE utf8mb4_bin;SELECT CONVERT('test', CHAR CHARACTER SET utf8mb4) COLLATE utf8mb4_bin;SELECT CAST('test' AS CHAR CHARACTER SET utf8mb4) COLLATE utf8mb4_bin; But these are illegal: SELECT CONVERT('test' USING utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_bin);SELECT CONVERT('test', CHAR CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_bin);SELECT CAST('test' AS CHAR CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_bin); For string literals, another way to specify the character set is to use a character set introducer. _latin1 and _latin2 in the preceding example are instances of introducers. Unlike conversion functions such as CAST(), or CONVERT(), which convert a string from one character set to another, an introducer designates a string literal as having a particular character set, with no conversion involved. For more information, see Section 12.3.8, “Character Set Introducers”.Character Set Conversions for String Comparisons Normally, you cannot compare a BLOB value or other binary string in case-insensitive fashion because binary strings use the binary character set, which has no collation with the concept of lettercase. To perform a case-insensitive comparison, first use the CONVERT() or CAST() function to convert the value to a nonbinary string. Comparisons of the resulting string use its collation. For example, if the conversion result collation is not case-sensitive, a LIKE operation is not case-sensitive. That is true for the following operation because the default utf8mb4 collation (utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci) is not case-sensitive: SELECT 'A' LIKE CONVERT(blob_col USING utf8mb4) FROM tbl_name; To specify a particular collation for the converted string, use a COLLATE clause following the CONVERT() call: SELECT 'A' LIKE CONVERT(blob_col USING utf8mb4) COLLATE utf8mb4_unicode_ci FROM tbl_name; To use a different character set, substitute its name for utf8mb4 in the preceding statements (and similarly to use a different collation). CONVERT() and CAST() can be used more generally for comparing strings represented in different character sets. For example, a comparison of these strings results in an error because they have different character sets: mysql> SET @s1 = _latin1 'abc', @s2 = _latin2 'abc';mysql> SELECT @s1 = @s2;ERROR 1267 (HY000): Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT)and (latin2_general_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation '=' Converting one of the strings to a character set compatible with the other enables the comparison to occur without error: mysql> SELECT @s1 = CONVERT(@s2 USING latin1);+---------------------------------+| @s1What Is Collation in Printing? Order is a necessity for everyone, but not everyone understands it in the same way (Fausto Cercignani)Disclaimer: This article uses Russian language and Cyrillic alphabet as examples, but is relevant for anyone who uses Caché in a non-English locale. Please note that this article refers mostly to NLS collations, which are different than SQL collations. SQL collations (such as SQLUPPER, SQLSTRING, EXACT which means no collation, TRUNCATE, etc.) are actual functions that are explicitly applied to some values, and whose results are sometimes explicitly stored in the global subscripts. When stored in subscripts, these values would naturally follow the NLS collation in effect (“SQL and NLS Collations”).Everything in Caché is stored in globals: data, metadata, classes, routines. Globals are persistent. Global nodes are ordered by subscript values, and stored on storage devices, not in insertion order, but in sorted order for better search and disk fetch performance:USER>set ^a(10)=""USER>set ^a("фф")=""USER>set ^a("бб")=""USER>set ^a(2)=""USER>zwrite ^a^a(2)=""^a(10)=""^a("бб")=""^a("фф")=""During sorting, Caché distinguishes numbers and strings — 2 is treated as number and sorts before 10. Command ZWrite and functions $Order and $Query return global subscripts in the same order these subscripts are stored: first empty string (you cannot use it as subscript), then negative numbers, zero, positive numbers, then strings in the order defined by collation (collation).Standard collation in Caché is called (unsurprisingly) — Caché standard. It sorts each string accordingly to their Unicode character codes.Collation for local arrays in current process is defined by locale (Management Portal > System administration > Configuration > System Configuration > National Language Settings > Locale Definitions). Russian locale for Caché Unicode installations is rusw, and default collation for rusw is Cyrillic3. Other possible collations in the rusw locale are Caché standard, Cyrillic1, Cyrillic3, Cyrillic4, Ukrainian1.ClassMethod ##class(%Collate).SetLocalName() sets collation for local arrays in current process:USER>write ##class(%Collate).GetLocalName()Cyrillic3USER>write ##class(%Collate).SetLocalName("Cache standard")1USER>write ##class(%Collate).GetLocalName()Cache standardUSER>write ##class(%Collate).SetLocalName("Cyrillic3")1USER>write ##class(%Collate).GetLocalName()Cyrillic3For. A secret sauce. Sorry for the long answer to your short question! BTW, as I mentioned in my response to Mikko, I'm testing using the SendGrid API RESTful service now as that probably makes much more sense. I'm just used to calling SendGrid from services written in Java so I gravitated to an extension approach too quickly just to use the SendGrid .NET library. Still, being curious, I may play with the extension using that .NET library to figure out why it is choking on the async. Thanks for the comprehensive answer. One thing though:"the platform isn't really the right tool to handle large, fully constructed, email pass-through campaigns (100,000+ per)." - I'm not sure I agree. It depends on the use case of course, but there's no obvious reason the platform couldn't handle this volume per se.OK, good news:I have done this and it can work just fine.I wrote a heavily multi-threaded extension (firing dozens of threads off at once to parse out a document, run search engine queries in parallel, collate the results, download the text from the returned URLs, perform additional analylsis). The way I did it, was to have an Action in my Extension that accepted all of the needed information. In it, I did all of the needed queries (this was before asyc/await, I was using the multi-threaded ForEach from TPL), returned to the main thread to collate results, then used the same pattern to download and analyze the results, then collated the analysis into a structure as output. To call this (because it could take a while), I used a timer. The UI was effectively building a record to be batched, then kicking off the timer to pick up the batches and run them. The new lightweight processes in BPT would be perfect for this instead of the timer, by the way.J.JaTimothy MayFilipe,Sorry - I did not. I used REST calls instead.
